1923-24 1 1/2a chocolate adhesive of India overprinted KUWAIT in black. Three examples of the scarce 'AS' for 'A' version unlisted by SG but noted in its footnote on page 350. First a scarce mint example (dried toned gum) plus a rare used example (with just a handful recorded on cover) plus an additional mint example showing KUWAIT INVERTED (common) and a further example of the KUWAIT INVERTED issue but on the 'A' tablet showing 1 1/2a value. This latter variation is very rare. Practically all examples inverted come on the 'AS' version. A rare array of these difficult stamps.
