1889 20c orange red on cream registered postal stationery envelope (size G) of Gibraltar (H&G 8a) addressed to France (light tone spotting on front and reverse) bearing additional Gibraltar (un-overprinted) adhesive (SG Z19) cancelled by scarce oval REGISTERED/ CASABLANCA cancel dated 10.MY.96. The addition of the 10c plus the 20c registration fee would have been sufficient to pay the ordinary overseas 25c rate postage but not enough to cover registration. Hence although cancelled 'registered' (in error) the cover was sent by ordinary overland mail and did not receive any registration label. A scarce use of this un-overprinted envelope in Morocco of which Clough only records two known internal uses.
