Whilst these essays are attributed to the 'Boston Gang' Robson Lowe mentions in his handbook Vol 6 that they are 'too well engraved' to have been forgeries and that E.L.Pemberton and other philatelists consider them to be genuine and likely submitted by Perkins Bacon.
